Caritas Czech Republic built modular houses in Transcarpathia for people who fled the war

5,9 million people are still displaced within Ukraine. Many of them found shelter in the Transcarpathian region, but not all of them have dignified living conditions, staying in overcrowded dormitories or gyms. Last year, Caritas Czech Republic together with the Transcarpathian Regional Council and the Mukachevo Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church started building modular houses for people who were forced to flee their homes and found safety in the Transcarpathian region.

Caritas Czech Republic and M.A.D.E. theatre organise theatre tour for social inclusion of Ukrainian refugees in Moldova’s communities

For almost a year, we have been providing humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees in Moldova. Due to the protracted war, the refugees need not only to have their basic needs met, but also to be socially integrated into local communities. In order to support their integration in Moldova and to strengthen social cohesion with local communities, Caritas Czech Republic, in cooperation with the M.A.D.E. theatre, will organise a national theatre tour in 7 cities of the country.

Caritas Czech Republic helps Ukrainian refugees in Moldova cope with winter

People running from the war left almost everything at home, including winter clothes. Caritas Czech Republic supports Ukrainian refugees to survive harsh winter conditions. Around 2,000 Ukrainian refugees accommodated in Gagauzia (Moldova) will receive support to buy winter clothes. The initiative is part of Caritas Czech Republic's winter support activities for Ukrainian refugees and aims to cover the additional needs that winter usually brings for people.

While the eyes of the world are mostly on the war in Ukraine, there are a number of other conflicts and crises escalating around the world that we should pay attention to. The world is currently experiencing the highest number of conflicts since the end of the Second World War. It is expected that 339 million people, one in 23 people in the world, will need humanitarian aid this year. What conflicts and crises should we be watching in 2023?
