Two years of our help to Ukraine: How Caritas Czech Republic supports the affected people

It has been two years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine and escalation of the war.  During this time, the situation remains challenging both on the battlefield and in the living conditions of Ukrainians. Russian missiles and drones continue to target various settlements in Ukraine, while Ukrainians persist in fighting for their land or seeking refuge from the war. Caritas Czech Republic has been assisting affected Ukrainians since the beginning of the conflict, providing support both within Ukraine and abroad.

At Caritas Czech Republic, we care about our planet. That is why we help protect it in several countries around the world. In Iraq and Zambia, we support farmers in adapting to climate change so that they can continue to grow and harvest successfully. In Moldova and Georgia, we are introducing the benefits of composting, and in Mongolia we are helping to prevent plastic waste from flooding the beautiful countryside. When I work, I forget about bad thoughts, says Yulia from Lysychansk, Ukraine, who found safe shelter in a modular house built by Caritas Czech Republic in Mukachevo

Western Ukraine has become a safe place for people fleeing from Russian military aggression against Ukraine. Julia and her elderly mother arrived here in the spring of 2022 after their hometown Lysychansk was attacked by the Russian army. They cannot go back because the city is occupied. Thanks to Caritas Czech Republic, Yulia found safe accommodation and now works at local sewing factory.
