How teacher Nataliia adapted to life in Uzhhorod after fleeing from frontline Kharkiv

Nataliia Storgalova from Kharkiv was forced to leave her hometown on the very first day of the war, February 24, 2022. She grabbed her children and drove away from the Russian border, eventually finding herself in the safer city of Uzhhorod in western Ukraine. The Kharkiv region is still being attacked daily by the Russian army.

Therefore, people have to get used to life in a new reality, and we are trying to helping them to do so. When I work, I forget about bad thoughts, says Yulia from Lysychansk, Ukraine, who found safe shelter in a modular house built by Caritas Czech Republic in Mukachevo

Western Ukraine has become a safe place for people fleeing from Russian military aggression against Ukraine. Julia and her elderly mother arrived here in the spring of 2022 after their hometown Lysychansk was attacked by the Russian army. They cannot go back because the city is occupied. Thanks to Caritas Czech Republic, Yulia found safe accommodation and now works at local sewing factory.
