We launched an appeal Caritas for Ukraine

In response to the entry of Russian armed forces into the territory of Ukraine and the resulting risk of further escalation of the armed conflict, Caritas Czech Republic announces a public collection to help the inhabitants of the affected areas. At the same time, we have released half a million crowns from our emergency fund for immediate aid.

Eastern Ukraine has been facing a humanitarian crisis continuously since 2014. Caritas has been helping people in need in the country for a long time. Should the escalation of the armed conflict continue, Caritas Czech Republic is ready to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to people affected by the war, whether they stay in the areas of fighting, or flee.

More violence in Eastern Ukraine, thousands are without water and power

Caritas fears for a humanitarian emergency in eastern Ukraine following an upsurge in fighting between government forces and Russian-backed separatists. Fighting in the frontline town of Avdiivka has cut water and power to most of the 25 000 inhabitants, while temperatures have fallen as low as -17C. Caritas Ukraine has distributed emergency food packs to 1 000 households containing enough supplies for 2-3 weeks and will distribute another 1 000 packs along with cash grants. Caritas delivered 1,5 tons of Christmas presents to Ukraine

Christmas presents for more than 300 Ukrainian children filled up a lorry of the Caritas of the Archdiocese of Olomouc (CAO). The lorry went abroad on Tuesday, 13th December 2016. The children will unwrap the presents during the Ukrainian Christmas – on 5th and 6th January. They are from socially disadvantaged families, from children’s homes or they had to abandon their homes due to the military conflict in the east of the country…
